Kirby’s virtual presentations are best suited for grades 3 thru 8 and include all of the elements of her in-person visits:

  • A glimpse into her writing journey
  • The inspiration behind her books
  • How historical events shape her novels
  • The importance of revision
  • Out of the box research tips!
  • Opportunity for student involvement
  • Fifteen minutes of Q&A with students
  • Follow-up materials for classroom use

Kirby can do a shorter virtual presentation for 1st-2nd graders, with a focus on writing nonfiction using Nubs: The True Story of a Mutt, a Marine and a Miracle as the mentor text. This session:

  • Introduces students to the creators of this book (including some surprises)
  • Introduces students to gathering facts
  • Introduces students to the need for revision
  • Allows for student involvement
  • Ten minutes of Q&A, if teachers desire
  • Follow-up materials for classroom use
